Smaller than Typha latifolia but still a large typha with dark chocolate coloured seed heads. It is reported that the roots have been used in Asia to combat dysentery. The attractive seed heads are frequently used by florists.
Marginal pond plants are usually best suited to shallow water or damp soil and are a great way to add some contrast to the border and shape of your pond.
Attractive seed heads may be left all winter if desired but best cleared if they fall into the water. Cut back foliage before spring growth starts.
