Salt can treat some parasites such as costia, chillodonella, fluke and white spot. But it can alsp help the fish recover from wounds and ulcers.

Adding to the pond water can also reduce the toxicity of any nitrite level spikes in the pond.

Some also add salt to the Pond in the colder winter months as the salt helps to form a thicker mucus layer to protect the fish better against parasites and bacteria in the colder water when the immune system is alot slower and weaker.

For use in the Pond dose at 3grams per litre of pond water for a general treatment for parasites, bacteria or elevated nitrite levels. Higher pond doses can be used in certain circumstances but always seek advice before dosing if you are not sure please get in touch.

For Dip treatments use 15grams per litre of pond water in a well aerated koi bowl. Ensure all salt is dissolved and there is enough water to cover the fish completely before adding the fish. They can then be added for 10-20mins and observe continously. If the fish show any sign of distress/rolling etc remove immediatly.
